Wild, rugged and turbulent on Skye.
As the Sea Eagle soars imperiously over the scene of the rugged Cuillin mountains, I am reminded of the experience of a life-time - that of traversing from Elgol to Sligachan via the Cuillin and Loch Coruisk, winding up in Sligachan, with the rapids of the turbulent River Sligachan and the bleak moorland landscape that is home to the raptor, mists and low cloud and all things that make the Highlands and Islands so very special.

I look at these pictures and I'm instantly back there, the warm water washing over my feet, the warm sea breeze blowing through my hair, sand in one hand and a nice cold beer in the other!

The photo was made during last month, on the Black Sea's beach, during a short holiday. I used a FujiFilm Finepix S5700 super zoom camera.

We went to the isle of Wight this year. Although its not an exotic place, its beaches and landscape are fantastic especially for children. These are photos taken on sandown beach.

As the axe dropped, I flinched. Buffalo sacrifice is important at Torajan funerals in Sulawesi, Indonesia. In this achingly-beautiful land of glistening rice-paddies and wide skies, death is ever-present.
I'd seen burial niches in the rocks and “tau-tau”…life-sized, wooden effigies of the dead… staring down from galleries, like opera-goers.
Then I watched as the deceased man’s granddaughter, dressed in red, Tana Toraja’s colour of death, led a procession of female mourners. The men meanwhile jostled the dragon-shaped coffin along in a party-like atmosphere and later chanted the deceased’s life-story, swaying in slow rotation. A funeral maybe but also a celebration of life.

Well unfortunately we have not been on holiday this year but I've got some great summer photos of my son at Thomas land in Drayton Manor on his birthday and also in the pool.

Hot sunny days spent sightseeing around Corfu Town, splendid views and photo opportunities at the ancient fortress.
Relaxing times spent on the beach in Agios Gordios.
Spectacular sunsets repeated every evening on the west coast of Corfu.

We went on an amazing trip through Vietnam and Cambodia, visiting many places. Here are just 3 examples of what we saw on our trip.
Whilst travelling over the border by boat along the mighty Mekong river, we made an unscheduled stop at a small village and the local children were very excited to meet us. They loved me showing them pictures of themselves on the camera!
Later in our trip, we visited a number of temples in the stunning Angkor Wat complex. Here you can see two of the carved faces at the Bayon temple.
We also visited a school on the shores of the enormous Tonle Sap lake, where there were lots more excitable children. Before we left, we floated in a small boat amongst the partially submerged trees which reflected beautifully on the water.

We decided to have a holiday this year in good old Blighty. We headed towards Gloucester but the photos are from Bourton on the Water. Beautiful!

Unfortunately this year I have been unable to travel as such - but I have been on a great journey - the first year of my daughters life! No holiday can beat that!

Taken on two different holidays in England this summer, these pictures capture so much that is beautiful about this country. A beautiful riverside scene in Knaresborough on one of the hottest days of the summer.
The peace and tranquillity of Shipley Glen.
And finally glorious colours of Exbury Gardens at the very beginning of summer.

These shots were taken on my first 'holiday' with my girlfriend when we decided to head to Blackpool to get away from it all for a few days.
Pic 1: As soon as we saw this old sign warning about quicksand, we just couldn't resist having a bit of fun!
Pic 2: The Big Wheel on one of Blackpool's piers. It's what says "Blackpool" to me. The promenades, the piers and the fairground rides.
Pic 3: An image that sums up the typical wet weekend in Britain. Dark, grey and damp, but it didn't stop us having fun though!
